The adventurous, five-door Nissan Qashqai shuns conventionality, offering motorists a totally different take on the concept of the compact family car. Part of Nissan’s family of crossovers, Qashqai (pronounced ‘Cash Kai’) blends the agility and comfort of a hatchback with the strength and practicality of an SUV, all in a sporty, fashionable wrapping.
The design of the Qashqai was led by Nissan Design Europe (NDE) and was the first new production vehicle to be designed at NDE since its move to London in 2003. The development programme was led by Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) based in Cranfield, with significant input from Nissan's engineering base in Japan. Qashqai is built at Sunderland in Nissan’s award-winning plant.
Four engines are available, two diesel and two petrol offerings. The 1.6-litre petrol offers 115 PS of power and 156 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-litre produces 140 PS and 196 Nm. The diesel engine options – 1.5- and 2.0-litre – provide 106 and 150 PS and 240 and 320 Nm of torque respectively. All four engines are offered across the three grades.
All four Qashqai grades feature a level of specification that is far from 'standard'. Whatever the grade, it has the power, performance and equipment to take on – and win in – the modern world; the urban world.
